"If I had my competitive career again to run over again, I would change my attitudes to injuries. I would show them more respect. Injuries weren't some unknown barrier I was trying to breakthrough. Injuries were simply my body telling me that something wrong was happening" Derek Clayton (former Australian long distance runner)
Injuries are really part of the identification of your weaknesses. What are your weaknesses ? are you addressing them?
If I had my time again, I would just expand a little from the above concept. I would try to get a mentor to help see those weaknesses. Someone that could help me work on those weaknesses, knowing that you need time to develop. Someone who was not part of the immediate team I was playing for. (I was a hockey player..) Someone who I could discuss my strengths and weaknesses. This person would have the wisdom of time, they could be separate from the immediate goals of the team. So that I could continue my development year on year. Through the nature highs and lows of the learning / development process.
